Hello all.

One thing I’ve noticed in the past is that our road system is kind of flawed and just messed up. I really don’t want to write a lengthy paragraph about this, but here’s what’s gonna go down.

Prior, the type of road depended on how long the road was. Now, the road type depends on use and priority.

Instead of primary routes and secondary routes, we will have federal routes and district routes.

• Note: PRs do not necessarily turn into FRs, and SRs do not necessarily into DRs.

P.S. I’m a little frustrated with how the state and country tags no longer show up. What the hell is going on with this?

As I am a stats junkie I was thinking of making a Homicide list http://opengeofiction.net/wiki/index.php/Top_100_cities_by_homicide_with_over_100,000_inhabitants I currently have one city here but as I build out I will expect to build more overall poor and crime ridden cities to balance out an image that is similar to 2nd world or so, since most OGF countries in terms of crime seem to be low on the totem poll most likely my country will end up with 10 or so cities from Lallemand on the list. I am doing this compared to some crime rates for some other countries that are 3rd world entering 2nd or (Developing vs. Developed) Nigeria, Solidly 2nd world entering first Mexico and Brazil which are countries unlike Nigeria have a few to majority, relatively safe cities but are overshadowed by extremely violent cities. Unlike Nigeria which has relatively unsafe cities but large nice neighborhoods in this city.

I didn’t forget about the new Main Page I was working on. I am hoping for a higher level of consensus before porting it to the “real” main page.

I am happy to do so. However, I have only received participation or comment for about 6 users so far. Thilo and histor have endorsed it (they are our two active admins, I guess). BMSOUZA, isleño and tom_m7 also endorsed it. I’d like at least 5 additional endorsements (and no major dissents) before I take it “live” - I’m hoping for consensus.

I have the impression I can port the page code myself - it doesn’t seem there are any admin restrictions to editing the main page - is this correct?

I will probably be spending a lot of time with OGF for the next 6 days or so - it’s Korean Lunar New Year, so we have some holiday time. Hopefully before I go to back work next Monday I can make the new main page live, pending everyone’s approval.

We can work out feature maintainance over time. It’s not that hard: I have been updating my Ardisphere Portal almost daily now and it only takes me 15 minutes to do the actual updates, not counting separate time creating new articles worth updating to, which obviously wouldn’t apply to our main page features anyway.

As you can see within the new Tarott talk page, I decided to have Nerschach as Kalm’s capital, although Tarott originally was supposed to be the nation’s capital. Almost all larger countries in the world have an “inland” capital, so it should be the same in Kalm. I think, Nerschach has a much more interesting position as capital than Tarott has. But of course, I still like Tarott’s position next to the sea and the overall structure of the city. :)

But now I ask you: What are your proposal for the usage of the district in Tarott that formerly was supposed to be the national government district? See more details and leave your proposals here

I’m trying to get JOSM to work with OGF, but it’s not working out. I added the tms URL correctly, as shown in josm_02, but when I try to download a section of the map, all I see are tiles with a big red cross through them, instead of a more normal hourglass icon, or a map.

What to do? I’m desperate

I would like to propose adopting a new “main page” for the wiki. I have created a proof-of-concept here.

The main challenge will be that to keep it “interesting” there will have to be people willing to do the editorial work of making new “featured maps” and new “featured articles.” Currently, I am not very busy and don’t mind doing this. However, over the long term we would need other people to do this too.

I noticed that the countries that appear to be named “Asturialand” (AR043) and “Seeosa” (AR022) in southern Archanta appears to be up for grabs according to the overview map. I’m fairly surprised by this, as there was some pretty good map-making skill that was put into both countries (especially “Asturialand”). It would be a shame to see it all deleted by a private user (if that ever happens, or is even humanly possible!). May I suggest making the territories free (“blue”)? I see there are already a few of them in Archanta already, but what a waste!

To start things off, I have created a “sibling city” relationship between my two “Second Cities” - Cerro y Casa in Ardisphere and Askendom in Mahhal.

I think this could be a really great way to create all kinds of interlinkages between all our cities, and create a more interconnected wiki, and encourage all of us to communicate more and collaborate, like with embassies but on a city-by-city level. We can even partner up “smaller” cities in interesting ways, creating interesting interconnections.

As an incentive bonus, for the first four distinct users with cities with named mayors (with supporting wiki articles), those mayors receive board seats.

[update 2015-02-06 10:22 AM KST] I am hoping to create some sibling cities with “smaller cities” (less than 100,000 population). I don’t see many people developing wiki articles for smaller cities, but I have actually been really enjoying creating various smaller cities, as it provides a kind of opportunity to try out different ideas in a less ambitious way.

Currently I have articles for Palacio de Maíz, DL, Nudae-si, CC, and Sarangdo, CC, with a few more towns in progress. I have added them (as well as some larger cities) to the chart on the Sibling Cities of the World wiki page without siblings, showing availability. Hopefully this will work out - if you want to make a sibling relationship, you can see who is seeking siblings, and just volunteer by adding your city’s name to the appropriate place in the table. CAVEAT: I would like to focus the creation of sibling cities to cities that have articles on the wiki, as that would make for more interesting browsing.

With South Vienna the fastest growing district as of now, cities are quickly springing up in the PR 79 ring. Seeing as PR 79 will easily get congested soon, and that its alignment is a general inconvience, I propose a new alignment of PR 79 running along the South Vienna/Guernsey Territory line. This bypass will not only help traffic congestion in the future, but also provide a quicker way to the country line. When the bypass is completed, the old alignment of PR 79 will be renumbered PR 279.

I also would love to see if anyone else is making facilities - linear or circular accelerators They can make interesting map objects. PETERSBURGH- The political landscape in Drevet could face a seismic shift in the coming elections. A new political party, called the Vienna Independence Party (VIP), has gained popularity in Petersburgh and St. John’s City. The VIP has received a grassroots boost highlighting the lack of economic development outside North Vienna and South Vienna. Party leaders argue that Veannites are paying millions in taxes and not seeing any benefit.

Among the complaints made by party candidates is the failure to connect road and rail links between North Vienna and Taswell. The candidates vying for key positions in the Viennas say that this is preventing Viennites from reaping the benefits of the billions of dollars in investments made within the two districts.

Officials in Reback staunchly disagree with the accusation that the government is outright ignoring the issues concerning the Viennas. Representative Chuck Davis of Moulis stated that major projects like connecting Motorway 91 and the Arlington & Petersburgh Railroad can take decades before seeing construction. Davis cited the groundbreaking of the Reback-Duranth International Airport redevelopment, which has been in the planning staged for 14 years. He also stated that he is working hard to push the Motorway 91 project into construction.

This has not dissuaded the VIP, who say the Viennas are ignored by Reback. VIP leaders point out that Vienna has used local taxpayer dollars to fund national projects, such as the Motorway 66 construction in Nanets and the Reback Belphenia Railway Terminal. The party stated that if Drevet doesn’t acknowledge the issues of Vienna, then Vienna should stop paying taxes to Reback.

Update: The coastline for the Archanta continent has been fixed. Checked the world map and the continent is visible again. At first, the continent wasn’t visible.

I’m happy if you want more than one party from your nation at 6i - and parties can join whether in power, opposition, considered a terrorist organisation by the rest of the world, exiled in their home nation or simply just a minor collective of 3 librarians and their dog with an interest in politics. Obviously though, the parties must be left-wing, any shade.

I’m working on the map for the district at the moment so there is nothing to see at the moment but it will be up this week.

As you can see on this area, some countries have their frontiers in the sea, a few kilometers away from the coast. I would like my country UL203 to have the same. What can I do ?
