Pretty much that. I’m leaving most geographic features such as mountain ranges and lakes behind, and they aren’t hard to delete if the next owner wishes. Most urban stuff has been either moved to AR053 or deleted, but I’ve left some remnants of a city I was trying to start in case the new owner wants something to start off of.

Hi, guys! I’ve been trying hard to make Freedemia realistic, from fixing rivers to working on cities and towns. However, I have one problem.

I do most of my edits on school computers (an iPad and a Chromebook). Due to this, I only have access to Potlach 2 (which is very helpful to me) and iD (great for close up edits) since they both work in the browser. In other words, I have no access to JOSM. However, this has made it nearly impossible for me to properly make good forests and mountain ranges in the central east of my country.

I in no way want to take anyone from their own projects. However, if there is someone who uses JOSM who would be interested in helping make some large scale edits, it would be greatly appreciated. I could make a sketch or map of where I hope to place the forests. Thanks ahead of time to anyone who is willing to help, if not I perfectly understand.

Hello, I’ve been trying to make edits to my country, and every time I attempt to save it I get the error message “Precondition failed, cannot save way” and then another message saying “Document element should be osmChange.” I checked the ending of the data box and it did say osmChange. Does anyone know what is wrong?

I really love what’s going on here and have enjoyed looking lots at the wiki and other people’s countries. I decided to get stuck-in on the common area of the map this afternoon and have managed to create a small city.

I used Potlatch 2 which is what I’m used to using on OSM. I don’t edit OSM much but used to spend hours on it when I was bored at work.

As mentioned before, the Democratic Republic of Draco opened its borders recently and is looking for other nations to open embassies, trade routes and travel destinations. Draco’s airport has been recently upgraded building a new airstrip and terminal, as well as expanding public transport routes and making commuting a breeze.

As of today, Freedemia has established and embassy in Draconian territory.

The last vestiges of the nation Olacanian have resulted in mass immigration between the opponents of the monarchy Riko UK, have taken refuge in Balam - Utz to be faithful to the ideals of the republic of its population. At the request of the population Olacanian was annexed as a Commonwealth and Independent Northern Olaconia under the constitution and sovereignty of Balam Utz as a measure to legalize and regulate migration in our country.

This territorial annexation not affect bilateral relations between UK Riko and the Federated States of Balam - Utz.

About 6 months ago I made the new “main page” for our OGF wiki. Since then I have updated the “featured” items once a week, every week on Sunday/Monday.

Based on some feedback as well as my own preferences, I’m going to cut that update schedule back to once or twice a month.

Partly this is because I don’t think the main page is really that popular, and is intended mostly for new visitors to OGF, who clearly don’t care about the update schedule.

Also, it is because I prefer to focus my OGF time on my own mapping work as much as possible.

The main reason I’m announcing this here is that I want everyone to know that I would welcome if other people wanted to update the main page’s featured items at other times. In fact, you don’t need to be an “admin” to do this work - I was not invited to the admin team until after I built the new main page, myself. Further, it would be useful to make sure there are other people who have expertise.

But I’d like to suggest some ground rules, If you want to update the main page featured items:

1. Send me a message first, to discuss the technical aspects and make sure you are up to doing so without “breaking” anything. I set up an OGF:Sandbox work area for main page work when I built the main page before, and if someone shows an interest in learning how to do the main page updates, I would be willing to resurrect that so we could have a “practice area.”

2. Resolve to respect the nomination queues as they currently exist - this is not an invitation to hijack the main page to show your own work.

3. Consult with others and do testing work before making format, design or nomination policy changes.

The Republic of Draco sends an invitation to all the other countries for the establishment of foreign relations (embassies, consulates and travel policies) in order to expand its knowledge and be part of the ever more important process of globalisation. Coming up next is some background of the Nation’s approach to other sovereign sates.

Since the foundation of the Republic in 1798, Draco closed its borders to any kind of international interactions, leading it to become a protectionist state isolated from the rest of the world. For the past few decades the elected leaders have acknowledged the importance of global trade and its positive impact on Draconians. Pressure in the power spheres made it possible to reform the constitution and therefore open to dialogue with other nations.

Looking at the importance of the new legislation the government has started the construction of the first international airport in the history of the Republic, a port for trade and a new system of nationwide motorways to provide easier access to every part of the territory.

The Republic of Draco awaits for the response of the community with the arms wide open.

Many of the countries in the OGF world which were left orphaned are marked as “reserved territory”. What is going to happen with them? What is the purpose of that tag?

I have noticed in my workings that dams (for reservoirs) don’‘t render the same way in OGF as they do OSM. For dams that form an area, we get a nice black line filled with grey in OSM. However, in OGF they don’t seem to render at all.

Any ideas why?

I am considering starting up an international organization called the International Council on Solar Energy (ICSE). The ICSE is the governing body that governs the use of solar energy. Its mission is to regulate the use of solar energy among solar-powered farms, vehicles, and even power distribution. The organization also condemns solar theft and illegal disstribution of solar energy. The ICSE headquarters are located at the 520 block of Exodus Avenue in the Leviathan Point district of Remiville, Belphenia.

Since 2014, alternatives such as solar energy is always legal in Belphenia and can used to power solar-related products such as houses, vehicles, solar farms and power distribution. In Belphenia, new or existing solar panel farms, and companies who are getting involved in solar power distribution must have a license from the ICSE under Belphenian law, but this law only applies to those who are on Belphenian soil.

Fellow mapper Deltanz and I started a discussion recently about the possible creation of a South-West Astrasian Economic Alliance (SWAEA) between our countries. Since there are however many more countries in South-West Astrasia (the South-Western part of Archanta), it may be possible that other countries are interested as well.

If this is the case for your country, please send Deltanz or me a PM, or make your interest known in the discussion/talk section of the aforementioned wiki page. Any country in the vicinity is welcome to join!

Two months ago, the OGN News blog (“World News” in the top menu) was set up for members of the community to share news stories from their countries with the rest of the world.

So far, 29 articles have been published by 10 users, an average of about one article every two days. The articles are sortable by country, author, and subject area.

Anyone who’s interested is welcome to join. And if there’s anyone with feedback, suggestions, requests for what you’d like to read about, etc, feel free to make a comment here, or send a message to the admin team.

Canclaret and I were hoping to do a bid for the 2016 Winter Geolympiad that is to be co-hosted between Palmerston City, Ismikk and Sono, Inretsk (the latter of which is currently under development, although we’ll probably get it done on time). Is it alright if we could start our bid early (if there is going to be one soon)? We’re not going to have as much time to get things done from September 1st onward, but we still really want to do this.
