I started drawing a city (yes, real paper and real pencils !) called Tilia, 1 year ago. I’m drawing maps for years and I’m doing it better everyday, Tilia is a kind of goal of the big city I would love to live in. It is inspired from many different european cities and has a great history that I’m still writing. When I learn good facts about a real city, I try to apply them to Tilia. I’m still drawing it, an update will be added in a few weeks. I’m also drawing other cities and villages of my country on paper.

I’m talking to thilo by messages to make Sathria’s relief / economy / roads / languages / currency… and UL203’s correspond (not to be the same, but to keep things logical).

And I have a very important question : As I started drawing cities and my country on paper, how can I reproduce them on the OGF map ?

For the country I’m working on, Lallemand, my friend and I are developing its background story. So far, a big part is that the country was divided in two after a civil war, and each side was backed by one of the super powers.

I’ve been looking around the wiki, but there’s not much on world history. I was wondering which countries are considered the world powers(such as US, Russia, and China), and if there’s any large world wide rivalries between such countries.

I was also wondering if there are any world wide organizations, or political blocs, such as the UN, or EU.

Any information is appreciated, and sorry in advance if its already in the wiki and I just didn’t see it.

I was thinking about this theme. The major sports in all of my countries is the football. But Cariocas is so little if I was wanting to use like Brazil (my real country), speaking about history in World Cups.

I was thinking a realistic way to include my countries (Cariocas and Gran Lusland) in the OGFIFA World Cup

So, I would like to use Gran Lusland as Brazil (even if I turn Gran Lusland in three different countries, like I was considering) and Cariocas would be Uruguay - a little country fanatic fir football. (Oh no! I lost for my neighbour country Latina, in my own home, by 7x1 last year!!!! hehehe)

Is needed some permission or I can simply include my countries in the list of winners and host countries?? In this case, 1994 was Gran Lusland the winner, not Ataraxia, but I would not want to start a fight about this

I have been working on the country of Lallemand, along with my friend Portopolis, and it seems I made city blocks 50 meters rather than 100 meters. I did this when I originally started OGF and did not really know what I was doing. I now realize that much, if not all, of a city, Port Arenas, is not proportional.

I was wondering if there was a way to use Josm to proportionally increase everything(except coastline, of course) in a city by 100%(x2).

Recently I’ve noticed that this website is slow to load up anything. It’s just this website, not any other one, so it’s not my connection. DId anyone else notice this, and if so, what do you think is going on?

I see that Mecyna is free to edit by any user. There are any rules about it? I am working about finishing Cariocas and finishing Slovech, the Belgravian capital in Gran Lusland, but I would like to edit the capital of Gilagonas province when I get a little of free time…. Regards! Bruno Moreira

Unfortunately, during the last months I had very little time to continue my work in OGF. But now I took a few hours to “create” a nice small town called “Wenneberg”, located in the Arwangen region, close to the border to Kohnen region. It’s worth a visit, especially during Christmas and winter time.

To get there, take the FLINX (“Flinker Nationalexpress”) high speed trains to Winterbach and continue using Rex/Reg regional trains. For international guests: There are good connections from almost all major international airports within Kalm (e.g. Herlenz) - or even from the Norad international airport in Garlis.

I am going to be working on smaller cities in my country and would really like help on my city Avewood with its suburbs. Thanks in advance. My cities each have at least one thing unique about the suburb. This is going to be my oly american looking area in my country the rest will be solely African predominately Nigeria, South Africa and West African based.

The Villa- Build casino in city center and large park on western end of city. Also work on streets (english names)

Oboagbodo- Work on castle grounds and city center

Praetor Hills- Garden or Green City of my country build lots of small gardens and parks even a winding forest. Street grid based on The Woodlands and Cinco Ranch, TX like a master planned community. Small 8 by 4 block downtown. The rest suburbia like CR and The Woodlands.

Fonisha- work on Zoo and City Center

North Obodo- Not a real place yet. Everything East of Fela Street north of Port Obodo university ( yes I know Oceanautics isn’t a real word) and stadium. Street grid is supposed to be 3 seperate small villages that combined to make North Obodo Ndida Avewood Build a Super mall near the southern border and Ndida Beach. I had the idea of creating the World Organization of Sustainable Urbanism.

The WESU is a an organisation that aims to promote sustainable urbanism around the OGF world.

Here is the head office :

The goal of this organisation is to make a group of sustainable cities to give exemples : to show that natural environment can also be developped in cities and that we can also fight aggaist global warming in OGF.

You can ask a WESU label for your city to join the organisation. But your city needs to follow several rules :

• be green (with parcs/forests/natural places and clever ecological systems as Gobras city’s woods for exemples : http://opengeofiction.net/#map=15/20.7124/86.6517)

• be quite unpolluted (not too many highways and carparcs/with a good railway, metro or tramway system/few cars and many pedestrians streets)

• be social (many pedestrians areas/cultural places/public gardens…)

Some of the previous rules can’t be seen on the map, this is why you should explain how your city is eco-friendly (ex : green energies). You are welcome to add things to this list if you want.

If your city respect these rules, you are also welcome to add the WESU ambassy to it.

Also I’m not english so I don’t know if the name sounds good.

For those whose territories are established in the continent called Archanta, I saw the world map today, and I saw the continent is flooded with water. Other countries in continents such as Uletha, Tarephia, and Antarephia are not affected by the flooding.

I am looking to build a small international or regional airport (2 runways max), I have stub ramps in place for where I’d like the entrance to be. If anyone wants to help that would be great.

Also, I have a railyard just south of the airport site, I would like to hear some opinions about how it’s laid out and how to incorporate it into the airport.

Hello, I am alb120, Portopolis’ friend who will be working on the Northern Island of Lallemand. I am grateful for all the advice that has been given to us so far. Clearly the community here is active and very friendly. I will be working on The People’s Republic of Lallemand, a break away province from Lallemand. I have been working on 3 cities so far(Republic City, Novograd, and Port Arenas) and have been wondering if the blocks and building are up to scale. It has been slightly difficult to tell for myself, because I have been working on the cities building by building, and have yet to find another similar setup on the map. If anyone could comment on the size of the buildings, it would be appreciated.

Some time ago user “NE2” created a set of relations that are useful for monitoring and maintaining coastline information, which helps everyone prevent “rendering floods.” Essentially, he made giant “island” relations (in fact, there is a place=continent tag that seems ideal for this type of thing) which encompass all the coastlines of a given continent.

Once I realized his excellent, plan I have been monitoring the relation for the Archanta continent and have several times repaired minor leaks and continuity issues for the continent. This helps prevent “floods.”

These “continent” relations are a pretty huge and cumbersome to work with, but in JOSM you can download and manipulate individual relations separately so it works quite well. The relation ID for Archanta is #7664. It had over 200 individual members, constituting the entire coastline for the Archanta continent.

As far as I can tell from the history (http://opengeofiction.net/relation/7664/history), about one hour ago a user named “polo” apparently deleted all but a few members of this relation (it looks like Changeset #41731). This will be quite difficult to repair unless we can revert this change.

Is there an admin ability to revert a single edit at this level? Re-adding all the individual coastline members would be quite an undertaking, I think.

UPDATE! I think I’m getting a great education on the powers of JOSM. I am in the process of learning how to use the “reverter” plugin. I will see if I can fix this myself, and I am exchaning messages with user “polo.” If I make a mistake, please forgive me in advance…

I just installed the Areaselector plugin for JOSM and I have no idea how to open it. I followed the instructions to install it and a message popped up and said it was successful. Are the plugins in plain view or do you need to open them from another menu?

Me and my friend alb120 joined 2 weeks and 2 days ago respectively. We made this country called Lallemand or (Lallemanya) South of Khaiwoon, north of Ilhas Carrocas, and east of Onnutu Islands and I hope you guys can check it out and give some constructive criticism. You guys are free to add things yourselves on the Southern Islands where my capital Avewood is located. We are both American HS students and the only experience I have in mapping is of mostly simple hand drawn maps of imaginary cities. I however went to Texas State Geography Bee earlier this year. I am from Nigeria and my sentence structure may seem way off as Nigerian Pidgin English mixed with British English was my first language. Okay, I seen this on the world map west of my territory, Belphenia. That country was Zeeland, belonged to a user who was UbiquitousChimera. I tried to look for the user’s profile and I get a No Such User message. I later looked at the overview map, and that territory west of Belphenia is marked green as country UL018. I wonder why the name Zeeland is still on the map? Was Zeeland withdrawn?
