Hello everyone,

my OSRM-based Routing service will be down for maintenance on Saturday, I’ll update it from OSRM 5.5.0 to 5.11.0, besides a number of bugfixes this update will include a nice set of new features, for example excluding certain types of (predefined) way-types, more Algorithms and a new API-Level.

Regarding the runlevel exclusion of certain types I’d implement only motorways, trunks, ferries and toll routes, due to the fact that each type adds some processing time, how much exactly i can only tell after fully implementing everything.

Kind regards

Martin

I was wanting to try the OGF scale helper again and was wondering if others had come across a problem I found. When I try the scale it works on the OSM (OpenStreetMap) end, but I can’t with OGF (OpenGeoFiction). What’s going on? Do I have to zoom up or down to scale, or is it something wrong on the site’s end?

I’ve just been wondering as I like the tool instead of trying to export a map manually to get scalings right.

Any info or tips?

Thanks,

Hello there!

As probably none of you remember, I joined OGF about 5 months ago. I was somewhat active in the first few weeks, building a small town here.

I had a plan for the town, but never finished it, mostly because I just didn’t really know what i was doing. I eventually forgot about OGF. But I’ve recently remembered that it exists, and am thinking about coming back.

So, I think the first thing I will do is potentially rebuild this town from the ground up. Now that I kind of sort of know what I’m doing, I think I can make it a lot better this time. I’ll figure out what kind of style I’m going for by looking at some real world towns and cities from OSM, as well as looking at surrounding cities on the island.

I hope to permanently become a part of this community. I’ve loved the idea ever since I stumbled upon it, and although there seems to be a lot to learn, it seems like fun too.

As always, any tips or feedback or whatever is appreciated. Us noobs need all the support we can get! :P

Hi everyone, I have updated the political map of Antarephia , but there is still some unnamed geographical places, like the bays and gulfes around the mainland. Looking throughout different wiki pages I’ve found a couple but many are still missing.

I’ve proposed for example Calliesanyo Bay for the waters bording Kalisaanyo in the South as it seems to be an important country of that region. But that can be changed.

That could be good to fix and make a map showing the names of the waters around Antarephia, because enven if Countries name can change with time, the name of the waters can tell an history of the regions like the Andover Gulf. Cheers !

Good morning to all New Users. I’d Like to ask all of you to spend some time browsing the various FAQ and wiki pages here. This isnt meant to be rude in any way at all but it seems like a lot of your questions could be answered by that fairly easy. Obviously we will still help each other here as much as we can, we all started without knowing how this works.

Have a nice day, welcome and Happy Mapping! :)

I am really unsure if my work is still unrealistic, but I never really mapped some kind of hotel as detailed as this, so I ask if you think it is nice?

The entire area has an edited coastline which is kind of more realistic, than my other builds. (The entire area is based off of Grand Bahia Principe in Punta Cana, and Sunscape in Montego Bay Jamaica)

I mapped some islands as a future area where the hotel would have scuba diving and a bar nearby just in case the guests would like a drink after they scuba dive.

Other work I have made is a small little trailer park for a friend here.

My friend mapped a park nearby and I added some scenic trails.

I have done some other stuff on Planoria, first off I remade the lake to be realistic.

How is it?

I’ve been mapping it for a relatively short time, but so far I’m not happy with a single addition I make. Everything feels awkward, I don’t know where to place streets anymore, I feel like the scale is completely off and I’m copying the real world too much, everything just looks bad and pails in comparison to my neighbors, etc.

But at this point I really don’t want to delete everything because I know I will give OGF up pretty much instantly afterwards. So I guess I’ll take a break for some time, because my first thought when I think about opening JOSM is “ugghhh, I don’t know what to do,” followed by “well, that was a waste of time.” when pressing upload.

Any advice for what to do to improve or telling me that this is a phase everyone goes through here would be greatly appreciated.

The next word is DISASTER.

I have mentioned this before but I live in Houston and Hurricane Harvey has absolutely destroyed our area, I currently have a family of eight living with my family because their house is still under water. I want the word to be disaster as I want to see how people can either-

  • Build a landscape that will avoid a disaster whether it’s flooding, landslides or earthquakes or even man-made like an abundance of gated neighborhoods because crime was high, or a refugee camp, (this is pretty hard)

  • Map an area that has been affected by a disaster that again could either be man-made. Leowozy already has a great example in Kalae.
