Hi all fellow geofictioners,

I just created a wiki-site about a worldwide organisation for handball (like IHF), and wondered if any of you guys wanted to join the federation. All you need to do is to edit the wiki-site and type in your nation:

  • {{Example}} - Examplian Handball Association (EHA)

Link: http://opengeofiction.net/wiki/index.php/Federation_of_International_Handball

BG - stennes

About

The city is called Mutstat (Mouth City/Confluence City) and is located here. I have created a little bit of the downtown, and Mutstathafen, the harbour city.

Any tips?

I need tips for realism, so please tell me if you think I should change or add something. I need your help! Thanks in advance

Hey there,

I’ve been drafting an inter city high speed rail network for my country Kojo, and I named it ICTR. You can read more about it here: http://opengeofiction.net/wiki/index.php/ICTR

I’m trying to come up with reasonable frequencies to run these trains on, as well as reasonable connections in the first place; I layed them out in the above article, besides generall information about the network and its technology.

I’m trying to estimate values for usership appropiate to the system’s major role it’s supposed to play in the inter-city transportation for Kojo, with nearly no domestic air travel and highways mostly focused on goods transportation and highly tolled. I tried to create an easy overview over Kojo’s major cities with their population here: http://opengeofiction.net/wiki/index.php/Kojo#Demographics

Now, here’s my request; I would really appreciate some feedback on the system, especially if some routes (of which many overlap over long distances) could be overproportionally covered or undercovered. I haven’t made a simple network map yet, and unfortunately the tracks are hardly visible at the moment due to flooding, but maybe some of you guys would like to give it a shot :) Feel free to ask questions or point out any flaws you see!

Hi, guys, I’m just trying to figure out if I need to reorganize my Unionway numbering in Freedemia. As of right now, there is no real numbering system among main roads, although loops usually match the main unionway they connect to. I know in America, even numbers go east-west and odd numbers go north-south. The issue started with Unionway 4, which runs north-south between Quentinsburgh and Laneston/Vandover and east-west from Quentinsburgh to Anneitasburgh. From that point, numbers have been kinda funky, with 3, 7 and 8 running east, 12 and 10 running north-south, etc. Is this actually an issue that needs to be resolved or is this not really a problem? Thanks.

Hey there,

quick question about a little issue I’ve noticed; I recently started drawing out rough shapes for the harbour in Finkyase (cough thanks to Luciano for fixing some coastline damage I’ve done there… cough), and now this happend:

http://imgur.com/VedFEQW,tKrY9jW#0

As you can see in the second picture, clearly only one breakwater each is actually set up in the datebase, nevertheless they still also show up at a location where I moved them from days/weeks ago. Here are the coordinates in case that helps: http://www.opengeofiction.net/#map=14/33.3686/117.2657

Thanks for your help, happy mapping :)

The OGN World News Center is a new, highly visible way for national media in OpenGeofiction countries to broadcast news stories of worldwide interest.

Basically, it’s a Wordpress blog that looks like an international news site, sharing stories reported by various news networks around the globe. So far, stories have been contributed by Khaiwoon’s KTV and Ardisphere’s Ruífono.

Any OpenGeofiction member who wants to share about current events in their country is invited to join. To do so: (1) create a free Wordpress account for your national news network, and (2) send the Wordpress account name to admin so we can add you as a co-author of the blog. Once you’re added, then you should be able to post stories through Wordpress to appear on the OGN site.

Some guidelines:

  • When writing an article, provide links to OGF wiki articles and map locations, where appropriate. See the Ardisphere and Khaiwoon articles for example.

  • Assign categories to each article you post. Most articles will probably have a country category (e.g. “Khaiwoon”) and a topic category (e.g. “Sports”). Sometimes more categories will be appropriate, for example if a story is about more than one country.

  • Be realistic. Remember, it’s easy to accidentally write unrealistic things when describing your mapping projects on OGF, for example “The freeway which began construction last week is now completed.” Realistically of course, freeways take years to complete, not days.

  • Don’t write about other countries without their permission. However, you may write about your country’s response to news from another country.

  • Don’t violate copyright laws. All text should be your original work. All images should follow the same guidelines as those for the wiki.

I have been trying to compare my city to other cities (real and OGF) to see how my streets match up, but a problem I am constantly running into is the scales between maps not matching up perfectly. When comparing the Petersburgh area to Gobras City and Columbus, OH (with OpenStreetMap), the scales don’t match, which makes it difficult for me to gauge whether or not I should add or remove streets.

If anyone would like to look at Petersburgh and offer suggestions, particularly with the suburbs in the southern part of the region, I would appreciate it!

I dont understand I change just a little things in Khaiwoonese national football team‎ wiki article I just change the 2014 World Cup host country, and I change the word Khaiwoon in a link, in “See also”. But the history of the article says I change so much things more!!!

What did I do????

I did not want to vandalize any article!

Hello, if you wish to have an Embassy in Vienna here is what you need to know:

-Embassies are permitted to be built on W. Anderson Street in St. John’s City between S. Broad Street and S. River Boulevard

-The size of your Embassy should be limited to 1/4, 1/2 or 1 whole block of W. Anderson Street. Only 1/4 and 1/2 block Embassies are allowed between S. 4th Street W. and S. 6th Street W.

-The size of your Embassy should be dependent on two criteria: 1.) The number of visitors from your country and 2.) The relationship you intend to have with Vienna

So, if you have a small population in your country, don’t take a whole block. Or, if your government doesn’t wish to be closely allied to Vienna.

-You are allowed to build your own Embassy in Vienna, keep in mind that you MUST NOT alter the streets, buildings or anyone else’s Embassies

Thank you and welcome to Vienna!

Thilo installed a wiki extension “News” that allows us to publish a “news feed” (Recent Changes log) filtered by category.

So our proposal is to move all the “in-world” news (like the highway and political news from Drevet, Vienna, Farax, etc.) to this wiki-based news feed.

To publish your article, just make a regular wiki article and at the bottom add:

[[Category:News]]

Here is an example I just made

2014 Costumbres Bridge Collapse

Following examples in wikipedia, most “news” and “current events” articles have the date (at least the year) in the title, as I did with my article.

With this category, we can make a “news window” (either embedded on our main wiki page or as a separate portal) which would be based on this test:

http://opengeofiction.net/wiki/index.php/User:Luciano/Sandbox/News

So… everybody! Make some news articles about your country in the wiki, and then maybe this weekend I will make a news window/portal.

Then we can keep these User diaries for “meta” (not “in-world”) discussion, like technical announcements, suggestions, questions about how to do things, announcements of new projects, collaborations, etc.

Later, people who like the “news” idea could also create their own news categories (for example, there could be a [[Category:KPBG]] news channel or a [[Category:WXFI]] channel), and country-specific or city-specific news portals could be created on the wiki, too.

Happy mapping

FREMONT- After the massive dedication of Fremont’s new subway line, the line opened all of its stations. Fremont’s new subway line runs from the Hancock interchange park northwest to the FARSA Central commuter station. The new subway is completely underground complete with modern trains as well as acess to two other types of mass transit along its route, those two being the FARSA commuter rail via the FARSA Central commuter station and FHSR via the Fremont FHSR Station. The line also provides indirect acess to the Fremont light rail at the Coastal Boulevard station near the Hancock park light rail stop. The Farax Ministry of Transit states that this brand new subway line will help relieve the heavy congestion of Fremont’s road system. Fremont transit (FT) plans to extend the subway southward to the Industrail district and the Port of Fremont via a loop at the end wrapping through the Industrail district and the Port of Fremont. FT also plans to build a subway line through East Fremont and Mackinac possibly with a line going through Fremont International Airport. FT states that a subway line through East Fremont is there main priortity because of its horrific crime problems, poverty-ridden, and “Seemingly hopeless” atmosphere. FT states that a subway line would fix these problems to an extent so people living in East Fremont can find better jobs. Enviroment Farax (EF) instead states that more parks would fix the problem more as well as tearing down abandoned building and replacing them with housing projects for the poverty-ridden residents to move into. There has always been a debate on what to do to improve East Fremont, but a subway line through there may not be the answer.

SCOTTSVILLE- Work on the replacement Martins Ferry bridge is carrying along. One of the new spans has opened and temporarely carries two-way traffic. It is a cable-stayed skyway featuring much more modern features than the original cantiliver truss skyway. Completion and opening of the parallel span is expected to be completed soon.

MACKINAC- FARSA Lines 2 and 4 were officially dedicated and opened yesterday as the next lines in the FARSA Commuter rail system. Currently Lines 1, 2, 3, and 4 are now open. Line 5 may be contruscted through the Port of Fremont soon.

FREMONT- Archealosgists continue to excavate the ancient buried city at the SR 304 and SR 139 interchange. No new ramp closures or delays are expected right now. Scientists say the discovery will help historians understand ancient history much better.
