After a very, very, very long break thinking about this, I’ve decided to get back into OGF. I’ve sent a message to admin about my return, and I’m going to wait until I get a response from them until I start mapping again. I have a big project planned, a city called Arlington, that I will start working on when I gain a territory.

Edit- I just realized that I am no longer blocked. Well, to Commonia I go!

Would it be safe for me to assume a specific country as the official parallel to a real world place if another future country will come with that intent?

As an example, I am assuming that Ataraxie is the parallel of France since there is no other parallel currently in existence. In the future though, there will be a future parallel (UL141 I believe) for it. So is it safe in this case for me to assume that Ataraxie is the “France” of OGF and write a history based on Ataraxie being “France”?

(PS on the wiki page for a proposed war in the past, I placed Bélice in one Pot specifically against Ataraxie as it was seen as the imperialists that were the closest to Bélice culturally like USSR against Russian empire in the rw)

Sorry if the wording is confusing.

(NOTE: I don’t own Ataraxie)

Thanks, Zekiel

I will be constructing several cities and roads connecting them in Project Simaye’. You may already notice the City of Ramani, it’s rather unconnected Beltway, and construction on the Ombo-Ramani Parkway. This project is officially in place, and if you would like to join Project Simaye’, you are free to do so. Just talk to me about it. Thank you

I really think I can replicate a lot of Canada in the small space I have, so here’s some of my plans:

Southern Planoria

I feel like Planoria needed some kind of northern Ontario feel. So I plan on making it have a bunch of lakes and small towns. Since Planoria isn’t at that winter year long area, I decided to add some big towns but nothing bigger than 100,000.

Northern Planoria

This entire area needs some more detail, I plan on adding more parks to the area and tourist attractions due to me wanting the area more touristy. I’d add farms around the roads but not too much. I want to try and keep it realistic and touristy along the coastline, while still keeping a realistic feel to the rest of the country

Theme Parks

Yeah honestly would fit into Northern Planoria if I didn’t mention I only have 1. I want to at least have a couple around Planoria, especially Northern Planoria. So Far I wanna make the biggest theme park near the capital because that’s the most amount of people which would make the park enough money to be big. I’m using this reasoning because in the real world theme parks would be in cities with a lot of people and relevancy, like how Disneyland is in Los Angeles instead of Sacramento, and why Canada’s Wonderland is incredibly close to Toronto.

I’d like to know your thoughts on my plans.

I’ve been working on a new city for a little bit of time now. Lafort is supposed to be a mostly urban city, with some regions of suburbs. The central region inside Lafort Boulevard and Coast Road is the first region to be developed, and acts as a “downtown” region. It is a major city of Peaceland, and its population is around 400,000. It’s incomplete in many areas, but I want some advice on what I should add and what I need to fix.

I for a long time didn’t care about natural resources because i was, and still am trying to make my country. But looking, i wondered, is there any rules for where resources can be found? Or you guys try to follow a more realistic sense of where the things would be? Because if yes, how do i know where the resources are located ?

The Latina Sea is one of the major oil reservoirs in OGF. And when I was going through the maps of my neighbors, I noticed that some country, like Latina ,extend their territorial waters far into the sea because they got the offshore oil platforms.

I am interested in building some oil drills for my country, the new formed Kaosha . And I want to know if their is any rules of building those oil platforms. Because as far as my knowledge goes, offshore oils are not considered islands and can not extend territorial waters into the sea.

I checked the Rule of Seas and didn’t find anything regarding oil platforms.

Hey everyone,

When I run josm.jnlp, it says “Unable to launch the application”, and when I run the preinstalled JOSM, it runs and shows an error message that says it failed to connect to josm.openstreetmap.de. The home screen says “(Message of the day not available)”, and whenever I try to download something from OGF, it shows the error “Failed to connect to the remote server”.

Does this happen to anyone else? Is there an issue with JOSM servers?

After a long hiatus from OGF, I’ve decided to maybe come back and do something… (since the long days of summer can get kinda boring). Anyways, I have this project that I want to recreate on OGF. It’s on paper, and the scale is kinda weird, but I would like to see if there is a place that I might be able to recreate this project online.

Here is my project: [Map of Argent] (https://tinyurl.com/y9wt9mxe)

Thanks, ImmortalHawk

P.S. I was wondering if the admin could allocate a country area for me to map. This city is supposed to have a typical climate of a North American City, and is not too far from water (ocean), but is not an island. Thanks

Previously, I made a mall which came out to be too big. I decided to delete it and make it more realistic by sights, OSM, and Google Maps. I am trying to make it as realistic as possible, but can I get tips about how to make it more realistic?

P.S. After I’m done I’ll save and put the coordinates there.

I’m starting to get back into OGF. I’m working on some stuff in my country. I realized I only have one operational airport in Planoria, So i’m gonna have to make another one just because people don’t find driving across far areas that great for them. I kinda see how everyone else’s airports are much more detailed and I look at my sadly basic airport, should I upgrade that or build a new one?

In this comment I mentioned that I altered the Route viewer to make it more suitable to public transit. Since it’s getting messy I decided to put everything on a separate diary entry.

Using the PTV

https://austinhuang.me/ogf-route-relations.html

The Skype and Share buttons are just there - You can adblock it if you want.

Differences from the original

  • No non-public transport routes - That means no highway routes, no electric lines, no ferry. Bus, Train, Tram, Light Rail, and Subway only.
  • Works from Zoom 8 instead of 10!
  • stop:1 (Or whatever number other than 1), stop_entry_only and stop_exit_only are rendered as stops instead of being ignored.
  • platform and platform:1 (Or whatever number other than 1) are ignored instead of being rendered.
  • Displays parent relations - That means you can see what lines are available at a stop/station!
  • Show lines of specific transport types!
  • Option to show 1 specific line! (Press “Reload” to restore to all lines)
  • More transport-specific details! (See Diary 2337)
  • Allow you to scroll past the antimeridian AND see the lines. (See Diary 2337)

Special tags

  • When you click a stop, it shows all the lines, with their background coloured by default. If you want to colour the text instead (Invert the colour), you may add ogf:invert=yes to the relation. You may want to use this feature to differentiate types of lines (Rush-hour, Express, Different frequency, etc).
  • You can change the width of your line by adding ogf:width=<Number> to the relation. By default, the number is 5. Floats should work.
  • You can change the opacity of your line by adding ogf:opacity=<Number> to the relation. By default, the number is 1. Floats should (and have to) work.

Can I improve this?

Sure, it’s on GitHub.

EDIT: Forum thread here

Hey everyone,

I’ve started mapping Vumrupstat one of the most important cities in Reeland, the capital of the province Oberlant. The first part of the city I’m about to make is the former fortress (like Innenstadt in Frankfurt, Innere Stadt in Vienna, Budavár in Budapest). For now, I made a palace like Hofburg in Vienna, a ring road around the former city walls, and a few streets inside.

I’m interested in whether I’m doing a good job for now. Do you all think this is realistic?

Also, I’m not sure if the palace should be used for tourism, or maybe as a parliament building for the province?

I’m open for all criticism and suggestions.

Best regards
