Hello to all, I have been working on Terwen’s capitol city, Campech, for a while now, and have mostly completed it. I want to take a look at Campech and ask for suggestions and criticisms on the city. I think that Campech is at least currently my best try at a city because its the first time I’ve made a city with features like detailed building complexes and geography. I know that it needs improvements like a proper mass transit system and more details in certain areas, but I would like to hear your suggestions on what I can do to improve the city. I plan for the city to have a population of between 600,000 and 750,000 in the district limits, and 4-5 million in the metro (seperate from the future San Opicho metro). I also am planning an airport here. So please, give me your most honest and helpful criticisms so that I can improve my cities.

I finally finished another long semester of school and I haven’t had much free time to work on Jefferson. Although I’ll be taking summer classes, I will be back now!

As I move forward, I want to take a look at Patriot City and get feedback. Specifically, what needs to be changed to improve the city?

I’m aware that Patriot City fits all the criteria on the laundry list of frequent complaints: -Grid city -USA style -Lots of motorways -etc. . .

I prefer to work on small areas of detail at a time and you can see that from the way the city is half finished. Since I began my OGF career at the city center and then mapped out, I expect that you guys will have many suggestions for that area.

I eventually intend for the city to have a population of between 900,000 and 1 million within city limits, and 3-4 million in the metro area (which I haven’t even begun).

And yes, an airport has been planned for the longest time, here, it just hasn’t been mapped yet.

So please, give me your harshest, most honest critiques!

as I started working on an OpenGeoFictionRailwayMap, one though came to mind, we all map railways, but so far i haven’t seen anyone develop a signal system for thier country. I started developing one in the wiki for L&A but I’m not an in-depth person regarding railways.

So my question: Anyone has a working railway signal system for their country?

Edit: To clarify, it’s not overwikification IMHO because I will actually use my signalling system to render it on a map

Hey there, After only being active very sparsely for the past 3 months I can announce that I’ll finally be ending my break and start to waste my free time on ogf again. I’ve got more sheets with scrabbled notes saying ,,Ogf ideas” on them then you can imagine. Kingfries is back and i’ve got a ton of stuff to haul up too.

It appears that surface routes are being replaced with motorways in the northern end of Commonia. Many such of these routes have been around for a long time. What is the obsession with such an over utilization of motorways anyway?

I map out routes that were original routes then go back in map out new alignments. There are some instances wherein I map out both a new highway but then envision an old alignment or business route as well.

Well, OGF-friends… Looks like I finally finished one city in my countries (Slovech is not finished yet).

Welcome to Barra da Grama, the third most important city of Brasonia.

I set inside the city limits as much buildings as possible. And I created names to (almost) all the streets.

There are still somethings to do, but, at first shot, I am proud, hjehehe!!!

I need creating names to few streets, but I still need creating names to shops, mainly in the old downtown (how can Myrcia create so much good names to shops in her/his country? hehehe). And, the main point to me (but not rendered in any OGF-map), relations to metropolitan bus routes, hahaha

I am always also editing the wiki article, trying to write some thing insteresting about this city I learned to love, and I can say with no doubt, this is one of the OGF-places I would like to live.

Now, maybe, focus in the metropolitan towns. But, maybe, I will start the old plan about re-creating Cariocas country, I dont know yet…

Are there any interesting or strange events and locations in your country? It would be cool to see some oddities here!

For Agarderia, there was an unrecognised microstate Free Republic of Zimna Forest declared for exactly a month in 1986 but then annexed by the Agarderian government. Partially satirising ‘countries’ such as Sealand and Liberland (and possibly the libertarian right), partially the product of boredom and unwillingness to map.

It’s on my sandbox page for the time being because I’d say it’s a case of overwikification, as the actual village currently looks like this. I’ll consider moving the article to a proper wiki page once Agarderia is mapped more intensively and after I’ve polished up the page and photos.

hello all, I need serious help with the new search thing..Noma…whatever. Frankly I don’t like it, because I don’t understand it xD I preferred the old search thing, but I don’t know the name of it either. Which is why I am asking.

What is the name of the old search thing that can search for specific tags? Or can anybody explain to me how I can search by tag on the new Nomatilian or whatever.

i have worked hard on Balkaria, but I want to trade it for an unclaimed territory where I can start fresh. i have wiki articles for Balkaria. any suggestions as to what I should do?

I’m not sure how to delete the nodes on my shoreline as I have too much :c. On JOSM I don’t know and on ID it takes forever and potlatch (the one I used to edit the shoreline) won’t load and I can only slowly delete the nodes. I need some help from anyone who knows how to use JOSM to delete nodes along my shoreline. Thanks!

Hi, I saw that transnational contential motorway systems are not so popular so I thought of suggesting another mode of transportation that spreads within continents- railways.

Like some of those stated here, I wonder whether is this possible in separate continents, if not for those unoccupied territories. It can improve connectivity for people and cargo, instead of just ships and planes.

I thought I post some insights (if there ever is), but has anyone tried Fractal Terrains 3? I checked it out this weekend and tried the demo, and was wondering if anyone tried it to create land patterns, etc…

A possible heads-up. I hope I’m not spamming, as I myself am trying to find ways to make a realistic territory, which is the reason for my long absence (I managed to delete my odd riverways for a new one).

I’ve been trying to be more original with my parodies lately, to try and make them have a humorous reference quality to them but still feel somewhat fitting for the OGF world.

One thing I’ve tried is making references to things that don’t exactly relate to the object doing the referencing.

One such example is Crazy Crunch, a popular cereal in Freedemia.

You might get the reference from the box.

If you don’t you’ll definitely get it from the jingle.

While there is a List of Airlines wiki page to help users “get an idea of route coverage and hubs,” it looks like the number of airlines has grown far too large to navigate comfortably.

Some airlines have listed destinations and flight frequencies on their respective pages, but there is no unified format or single location where one can find this information. What do you guys think of having a computerized database of airports/airlines with destinations and flight frequencies? With all the data in one system, flight schedules could be generated automatically and flight durations could be calculated pretty easily from airport coordinates.

I’ve also seen a lot of users seeking destinations for their airline or airlines to serve their airport. Perhaps with a better system, we could streamline this process and allow airlines/airports to serve dozens or hundreds of destinations instead of being subject to the chances of whoever replies to the post.

I think this should be pretty simple to code and host on a third-party server… I am just wondering if people are willing to use such a tool. What do you think?
