I’ve being trying to fix an issue with a pair of intersections in one of my towns, and the issue is exclusively with the Directions/Pathfinding ability on OGF. Find linked HERE the issue at hand.

To explain, I have a one-way system on both roads, which is correctly laid out, but the directions don’t seem to acknowledge the existence of the A4 highway. I’ve relaid every section of the highway to fix it, totally delete the interchange and then rebuild it from scratch. I don’t see a reason why the directions don’t see the A4 highway as existing, and I pride myself on having all roads navigable with the direction tool, so this is frustrating me a tiny bit.

Any help will be greatly appreciated. Keep Up The Mapping

Hi all,

After going through the OGF Wiki, I got some inspiration and decided to make a “Lonely Planet” like Travel Guide company

http://wiki.opengeofiction.net/wiki/index.php/Sociable_Planet

Following that, I thought that maybe perhaps we could expand on this and each country if they decide to, could make their own “Sociable Planet” travel guide to his/her country. I think this would be a great idea as it would allow users to express their creativity and vision of their nation to other users.

Please feel free to comment and discuss this.

Many thanks, Tommypoo

I think country lists in the wiki need systematic editing. Some countries, even ones with large articles, are missing from some lists. Some existing flags do not have templates, or the templates are not linked correctly.

I suspect some users don’t find or don’t understand this instruction (it also seems to be located in a strange place, although linked form the help page): http://wiki.opengeofiction.net/wiki/index.php/Talk:Portal:Lists

It would be awesome if some experienced users who are familiar with the wiki content could occationally browse through pages like “List of countries”, “Uletha”, “Archanta” etc, to keep them up-to-date. I made a few updates myself, but there seems to be a lot to do, and I’m not sure I have found all the lists yet.

Guys

Yesterday, I was reading the old hilarious discussion we had on D**cord, and let me say this:

Why Have We Freaked Out About Messaging Apps After One Unfortunate Incident?!

With proper administration, of myself and others I promise that this time, it will work out. Don’t you wan’t to return to those “old-times”? Also, Telegram is amazing! Iv’e been using it for a year now, and it has been absolutely amazing at doing it’s job. There’s even a music bot where you can download and listen to music!

The people who caused trouble last time are no longer here, so what’s the problem? Are we all that antisocial? Come on. Proper admins are all we need to restore the wonders of the instant chat of OGF.

Please think about this before you comment “But i though this was settled blablabla….”

Unfortunately, I’ve been having trouble updating. 1. When I click the link on ‘you should update’, it brings me to the Josm download page. 2. I click on the most recent version, and it asks if I want to open or save. I click open. It runs a security scan. 3. It brings me to a internet explorer view downloads page. Looking at a tutorial video on how to download, this is not supposed to happen. It asks me if I want to save or open the file. 4. I click open. 5. Then it just duplicates the file and I’m back to step 3. HELP

After a period of semi-intensive mapping, Blöndel begins to look like a city. It is nowhere near finished, but at this point it would be cool to know what you guys think.

Blöndel is a nordic type of city with relatively parse infrastructure and areas of wilderness near by. The map link zooms to Ritoll, a 1970’s suburb with built-in basic services: primary school, church, shopping center, medical center and library. The adjacent area of detached houses is a non-typical element that gives the area a unique character. This area sets the level of detail toward which I’m working in the city area as a whole.

Hi, sorry for posting two a day, I can’t delete diary entries even if they’re mine.

I just wanted to ask fellow mappers for feedback on my lastest drawing, which will hopefully enter the map soon. It is meant to be a post socialist housing project with an ancient monastery in the middle of it south of the Lorava river, and has been partly started here.

I drew the river completely wrong, I know I’ll have to put something there as well.

While writing this, I’m uploading a “nuke changeset” which will erase my capital city Markvað almost completely. If you ever visited Markvað, you probably will know why. The city was quite… “edgy”. The reason for this might be interesting, so I’m telling you the history of Markvað and also a short story of my mapping life before I came to OGF.

There is a railway simulation program around, called BAHN (which is just the german word for railroad). It’s not a “typical” railroad simulation - no 3D and also no cockpit simulation. Just plain 2D. You can create quite large networks with it and simulate complex train operations. It’s like a model railroad, however, you can have a model railroad in the size of an entire country. I used to play that game since I was 7 years old (it was 1993), in fact, it was my first computer game. Since then, BAHN evolved quite heavily. Well, I don’t want to make any advertising for this game, so let’s move on.

I had designed a large city in that simulation. And this city became Markvað when I started with OGF. The one more thing you need to know about BAHN is that you can only build tracks in 90 and 45 degrees (and, in the meantime, also 22,5 degrees). And this is the reason why Markvað used to be so rectangular.

In those BAHN days, Markvað was built with the goal in mind to maximize the public transport network to a phantastic density. When I imported the city to OGF, there were about 40+ Metro lines and a very dense tram network (which didn’t make it into OGF, I planned to insert it later). I guess, the new Markvað won’t have so many lines. However, I copied my “maximize the public transport network” dogma to Norðurland (as you can read in the wiki article about the country). So there will be still an almost unrealistic PT density in Markvað. However, I will design it in a way that COULD be real in a country which enforces its citizens to use public transport a lot.
