I have an idea… I thought earlier today that maybe a YouTube Channel for OGF could be a good idea. Introducing new people to the website, and showing some of the greatest artpieces on the OGF world?
Feel free to comment!

Hi. I am starting on this fabulous website, I have a big city project on paper, and I would like to make a virtual map of it. It seems to me that I am in the right place, but I am very beginner and I do not speak English I translate through Google. I would like you to support me with some tips or how to make the map Thank you
I am working on a coastal island supported largely by tourism, such as people vacationing there for the holidays and in the summer to enjoy the beach, or those looking to get to the beach a few hours drive from where they live as a quick weekend trip. I’d like some help shaping the island so it isn’t super wide, and is shorter on both the far right and far left sides of it, has room in the middle for multiple streets, and looks a bit more like a realistic island. I’d also like some help making the island a little bit bigger in size. Can someone help me with this? I have ideas in mind for what will go on the island, which will probably be just a single town, but I first need help making a good island, which I have little experience in doing. I’m getting some inspiration for my island from the island where the town of Ocean Isle Beach in North Carolina, USA is, which is a place I’ve been to a few times over the years as I have some relatives who live not far from there.
The island is off the coast of the town of Newington, south of West Bay City in the country of Commonia.
Hello. I want to reset my country, Ünglend, because I want to start all over and I feel I did it a bit wrong. But how do I reset it?
Hello, OpenGeofiction.
I’m actually working in Nisipurile de Aur, a Romanish-speaking city in Gobrassanya. Could someone tell me if it’s possible to make it a state of Gobrassanya, like the Jewish Autonomous Oblast in Russia, but Antharian instead? Thanks.
Hi all,
I’d like to start by wishing everyone Happy Holidays!
I (very gratefully) received a MacBook Pro today as a gift. However, I can’t help but notice how unclear and blurry OSM and OGF maps appear; it seems to have the same quality as if you were viewing them on a mobile phone.
Is there any reason and solution to this? I map all the time on my laptop and it would be unfortunate if the map quality hindered this.
Many thanks and seasons greetings,
khbritish
EDIT: Unfortunately, I’ve discovered that its a problem with OGF / OSM themselves - their map tiles are not suited to Retina screens, so maps will appear unclear. I don’t think there is anything I can do to fix it on my part, which quite frankly sucks! I’ll just have to hope that the team at OSM will create clear Retina-compatible map tiles in the meantime, and bear with it. It’s a real shame, as the maps look horrible on an otherwise HD laptop and lessens the mapping experience for me!
I am planning on putting a municipal airport with one runway to service mainly private use, but also for some public aircraft services. I willl probably put up a basic airport layout with one runway and some taxiways, but I would like know if there is a full list of airport codes that are similar to IATA’s 3 alphabetic-character code. Apparently it’s the WAAT airport code, but there doesn’t seem to be a database for that. In that case, I was wondering if I should start a new page for compiling airport codes in various places across this world…
Also would like some comments on the scale for Midland, the village right next to the proposed airfield. Is it too big, too small, or ok?
Thanksyouverymuch :D
Hi everyone,
I’ve been away from OGF for a long while due to other commitments, but I’m ready to jump back into my country, Basmia. In my tiny slivers of spare time I’ve been working on a concept map for what Basmia will look like, at least in terms of major roads. I haven’t planned out all of it, but to me that’s fine because I don’t want to plan everything out in one go (takes some of the fun out of it). The map is here. I’d appreciate some constructive feedback before I put it into Piclayer and start mapping it out for real.

Ok, so there is this guy who told me that the Alam desert sea that borders between Antigo (not the Pretanic Faction State) and this nation of UL137 (meant to be an Arabic homeland), is unrealistic, because this map is actually based on currents. Based on our planet Earth climate, the desert should not be there, because it is at around the 50 N latitude instead of within the 15 to 40 N latitude where deserts usually are (because of something called pressure and what nots, but my geography lessons never covered these so…)
So what am I (and bhj867) going to do with the desert? Should it become plains? Or a large lake/sea? Should the desert remain as it is or shall I turn it to other biomes? (bye bye military training* in deserts lol).
By the way, also no offence to the guy who made that terrain map. Also hope that these plans will not affect any planning of UL137.

I ask that when mapping your city, please be mindful of other cities that have been created. I had to delete off streets that were overlapping my city, St. Charles.
Please and thank you.
… not what you think.
I think we can all agree that regardless of all our differences, we are all “map geeks.”
So I think the humor on this twitter would be appreciated:

Happy mapping… from somewhere on the road, Oklahoma, USA.
So I’ve been recently getting back into OGF for the past few months, and so I got bored today and because AR120-11 is a collaborative territory (which I think I’m allowed to edit in according to a PM from an admin?)
Either way, if it doesn’t render that’s because I just built it and it should load shortly. I’m proud of the amount of detail I put in.
Hi all,
I’ve been working on my country ‘Hinton’ for a while now. My work is slightly patchy and, since being moved a few months ago from a different territory, the scale of some of my towns is way off (so I’m looking to fix that).
However, what I am currently mapping is the capital city, Altbridge, a basic British/European-style city. I’m creating some embassies in a small but affluent area of it called Orbourne - I know this is a fairly typical post, but if anybody would like their embassies in the city, please let me know in the comments.
Thanks! KHBritish
The last couple of weeks, people who spoke out about the territory requests taking some time, were silenced (posts removed, comments deleted). I have been waiting to receive a territory for a month now, and that makes me wonder what is going on, nothing more. Hereby, I hope that this diary entry will survive, and hope that we (the ones waiting for their territory) will get some reassurance in getting our piece of land soon.
Well, now my small tropical nation of Xenica has existed on the map for over a year… However, during this time, I feel as if there have been no cohesive ideas for how it will work out.
The plan of Xenica has changed shape a few times. Originally, it was a Singapore-esque city state, full of skyscrapers and modern architecture. I have had to tone down that vision, and now Xenica is more similar to a small Caribbean/Indian Ocean nation, with some urban influence, but much less than before.
Unfortunately, this ‘hopping’ has led to a place, which, at least in my view, doesn’t quite make sense. One user (I think it was Isleño?) referred to the place as looking more like a lot of towns or cities put in one, rather than a unified mass. If you look on the map, there are very awkwardly shaped streets and housing estates, the areas of vegetation and rainforest look like they were put there as an afterthought (I had to strip away motorways and whatnot since ‘nature always comes first’), and using Potlatch 2 probably doesn’t help much in this case.
So, looking at the CBD and into surrounding areas, what would you suggest I should do with Xenica? I certainly believe my territory has much potential.
So i was thinking on Marina island to make a city. Wanna help me!?
Hi, everyone. I was writing a user diary when everything got deleted. I tried recovering but ended up writing it again. It also got deleted… Anyway, the diary was about boundary problems. Can anyone help? sorry for the short description.
-Sincerely, iiEarth
Hello, OGF community!
I hope everyone is doing well this fine December day. The last couple challenges (school sites and national days) seemed to strike a positive chord with some users. There’s some fascinating things people are doing!
For December, I want to turn our attention to sporting events and games. What kind of sports are in your country? What kind of games are popular in the schoolyards or streets with your children? There are a lot of ways to go with this:
Remember that sporting venues are often multipurpose facilities. Arenas and stadiums can be used for concerts, political rallies, conferences and trade shows, religious events, or even as educational settings. Smaller places like individual fields may be used for picnics, local gatherings, or even just as open green space. Don’t forget to think about transportation, parking, and other amenities. Hunting and fishing grounds are another creative idea!
For example, I created a sporting facility a little while back called La Esportiqa in Salda with football pitches, fields for a sport similar to softball, tennis courts, sand volleyball courts, ice rinks, running paths, and amenities such as a clinic, fast-food stand, and grounds maintenance. A golf course is just to the west.
My plan for this month is to do even more with Salda’s winter sports facilities in the Terraura neighborhood. What do you think you will be able to create? I look forward to seeing what you come up with!
Have a great day!
I just wanted to make stuff clear with you all.
I am at ONE HAIR from having JOSM. I just can’t find the right browser to execute Java on. The people over at Java recommend IE, but seriously, IE? That’s outdated! So i’m asking any of YOU, JOSM users….
What kind of browser do you use for running Java, then JOSM?
See you later!
