I know that asking for feedback in the user diaries is generally discouraged, however i get the feeling the bliki is more of a week long project, and i am a bit busy nowadays, so yeah. (Exams are in two weeks and they are hell important so i am mostly studying.)

Anyway, Loravias Old Town. Its beautiful!. I mapped a bit without planning or drawing, and i think it turned out particularly well. I think my mapping is getting progressively better, so i would apprieciate some feedback.

There restaurants, cosy squares, small kiosks and shops, and an old Neo-Renaissance style railway station, which is by many considered useless due to its proximity to the central station, however was kept because, well, it was the first, and, its beautiful.

Also, on embassies:

Why do people map “embassy districts”? Little to no cities have places like that, most embassies are just scattered, or concentrated in one part of town, not in massive 19th century style villa-neighbourhoods. This is why i am going to simply map embassies in whatever free buildings are left.

Next week i am working on the Main station, and the surrounding neighbourhoods, so stay tuned.

I need answers to these questions, otherwise i will never achieve what i would want to with Litvania. Whenever i search it up there are little helpful results.

• How do we (can we even?) draw lines at only 90° and 45° angles? In Inkscape it is Shift.

• How do we accurately plan scaling? Like how can i draw my drawing at an appropriate scale on paper, and make sure it works here.

• How do people draw things like this, and when i draw an plan and then trace, i end up with this.

i am confused and worried. I get the feeling that what i do here on OGF seems to be suspiciously similar to what other users are doing. This makes me frustrated, as it makes me vulnerable to accusations of copying peoples work.

And if that happens, i cant say anything against it.

I want to present a case that makes me especially frustrated:

Litvania, and its eastern neighbour, Drabantia.

They are two very similar countries in terms of geography, culture, language and demographics, so for example, the capital cities, Lorava and Odrava, will be very similar. The way that the streets are layed out, how the cities work, what they look like etc…

However, here is the problem:

Whenever something new appeared in Drabantia, i looked at it and said “Damn, that looks nice, shame i cant make something like that.”

This lead to me being urged to either copy it, or, try to make Litvania look just like Drabantia.

For example, if you havemt noticed, as soon as Ráj n/Mlžnicí was finalised, Riekava popped up, and even the presentation in the User Diaries is the same. I was ashamed of myself later, however refused to delete it, as i like Riekava myself. Then, when Drabantia’s owner started rebuilding Drabantia, it happened about the same time that i aswell started thinking about how bad my country looks still after 5 months of activity.

I need help. I am ashamed of myself, and i need some helpful advice as to what to actually do with this situation.

an overview of the situation

april seems to be very eventful in real life this year. i havent been very active this past few days, as i was on a trip to London to celebrate my birthday (13th btw).

lots of (new and original) things are scheduled for the rest of this month and may.

a lesson

i learned a lesson:

no one will appreciate or care about my work if i get too inspired and start to copy. thats what i have been doing lately. i got a little weird and started literally copying some users work because i had small amounts of time on OGF, and i could be doing something meaningful with my life, but i also wanted to be perceived as a good and experienced mapper by the community here. i also just wanted a quality country to present.

i already know my work is certainly not astonishing, so i am trying to make a difference.

so now, let me present litvania 2.0

you may have noticed that i have redrawn certain parts of the country here and there, and i now want to focus on Loravia for a few months.

I am aiming for it to be a constitutional republic in the “oh so lovely mountains that i am yet to come up with a good name for”, that makes most of its money from tourism. There will be a purely slavic culture, with some elements of modern art and design in certain parts of it.

Loravia will be a beautiful city with lots of cathedrals and churches and theatres and cinemas and pubs and bars and restaurants and also, some nice buildings like these that i dont known the english name for. The old town is a completely car free pedestrian zone were people can mingle and relax in bars, restaurants etc…

Various tourist attractions will be in the old town, and i will try to make it hve a special charm to it.

Over the past few weeks i was getting myself ready to use JOSM for the largest, biggest scale work i have ever done on this website. The district of Riekava. (i was very impatient to share it with you guys)

This region is my favourite in Litvania. Best enjoyed at zoom level 13. Below is some information on this area.

Geography

• Forests - They cover the majority of the region.

• Mountains - The region is home to the Svetovidly (world-viewer/seeker) mountains.

• Wilderness - Wild streams, gently sloping valleys and calm villages and towns are all commonplace here. Also, the soil here, is well not very fertile so animal agriculture is more common than anything.

• Wateeeeeeer! - This area is the most dense in watersheds in Litvania.

• Eastern Wildlife Refuge - The second largest of its kind in Litvania, and a very popular camping area, though only in designated places.

Culture

• Regional Dish - I am yet to come up with something, but i guess it will either be a soup or a lamb meat dish.

• Language - The Litvanian spoken here is very different to the Loravian (standard) Litvanian. People tend to emphasize vowels.

Places worth seeing

• Dvojtín Castle - A wonderful castle overlooking the confluence of the Riekava and Hornava rivers, surrounded by the ancient market town of Dvojtín.

• Hornava - An medieval castle and church were built here, which led many religious Litvanians to travel here, which led the town increasing in size steadily over the centuries. It is a popular spot for believers worldwide.

• v. n. Riekava - Though artificial, this is a wonderful freshwater lake where swimming is allowed, so it is a nice place to go during the weekend. If you were curious, “v. n.” stands for “vodná nádrž”, Litvanian for “water reservoir”.

Now i deleted my countrys actual relation by complete accident. ¯_(ツ)_/¯ (couldnt get better hm?)

Can someone pleeaaassseeee help me? or at least send me some sort of tutorial that explains how to do it well? Its REALLY STARTING TO ANNOY ME that i cant get these dumb relations correctly. I have created relation deleted them, left out things, etc… i think it need cleaning by a proffessional. Not me. I cant even map river realistically.

I think i have badly messed up the neighboring countries rleations aswell, so @Nikolia i a, sorry if i did so.

It constantly shows up as just a separate country or some weird sh*t.

So i really want to have this town, Záhorská Bystrica in Litvania. I want it on the other side of the Micheny mountains.

Its name really means “behind the mountainous-bystrica”.

Unfortunately it is a 2,500 people settlement in Slovakia. Can we make the exeption?

After @eklas ‘ diary entry, i created a page titled “Slevic” for all the Slevic languages to put on as a family. There is just one problem. The name Syrillangan (i am repeating eklas’ words) does not sound normal to the Syrillangan person. However, the other names propsed sound too similar to “Slavs” or “Slavic”.

There is a problem in this because we need to come up with a name that makes sense, isnt biased on Russian spelling, and sounds normal to the Syrillangan person.

Please i would just like to say:

There are multiple linguistic, cultural, religious and mentality differences between West and East Slavs, please do NEVER CATEGORIZE US AS ONE BIG GROUP OF THE SAME PEOPLE. It annoys the hell out of me, and i wanted to emphasize that we are not the same as the Russians. We have different ways of doing things. Including spelling.

My recent obsession in OGF seems to be air travel. I mean it. I have created 5 airlines that are based in Litvania already, with barely enough mapping to support that. I need your advice. What should i do? I want to help the OGF world develop its aviation industry, for more airports, more developed and structured Callsigns, Airport Codes.

Entry 30/01/17

Spent all day in the field today. The team caught a terrible cold, and i had to do most of the work for the mission. Hiked up the West Peak aswell, and admired the blizzard for about 30 seconds, before eventually walking back down the slope in a hurry, to get to the warm comfort of the dorms.

The research for today was complete, but was really messy and unorganized. Unfortunately, Mr. Špihlerov will not accept that as an excuse. We are boarding a Cosmos(Litvanka’s ultra long haul aircraft) MIC-L300 for Loravia via Latina in 2 days. Apparently its already on its way.

Anyway, ill write tomorrow, when the sun will set at 15:00PM.

I have an idea:

What about an International Ulethan Motorway network?

This would basically work like the real world E-** road network, and would span the entire continent of Uletha. I believe this would fix the messes that people maoe when mapping highways, and would certainly improve international border crossing.

My ideas are:

-The roads would be numbered from U/I/M-1

-They wouldnt have to be newly built roads, but rather a layer on a layer.(i.e we would simp,y take the nice motorways that people build and add an international number to them)

-They would start somewhere in Pretany, Kalm or possibly the countries in western Uletha, and would slowly spider outwards into the northern and eastern regions.
