I see that people have used Maperitive to create custom maps. I’d like to make one too, but it’s all new to me. Can someone give me instructions?
Regards.

Inspired by many European cities, I’ve started to map Symflusstat, a city on a confluence of two major rivers. For now, I’ve mapped an old part of the city, on the island. I’m honestly very surprised how well it turned out.
What do you think? What should I add or change?

Hi everyone,
So, the worldwide standard for railway gauge is 1435 mm, and most tram/streetcar networks use that. However, another popular gauge for trams is 1000 mm. In some cities, it’s possible to have two independent tram networks with different gauges.
My question is: do you think it could be tagged differently? I want them to be rendered differently, but I don’t know which tag to use. I considered S-Bahn (light rail), but I don’t think that’s a good solution (for example, if I already have light rail in my city).
Any thoughts or ideas?
EDIT: The conclusion is that it’s better to make a map in the wiki than render it in OGF.
I think many of you already know about my most detailed city, Igwepir. So I’ve noticed that there are not enough parks in the city, and I thought this was a nice place for a large park.
My question is, does it look good that way, and should I expand it to the whole area marked green (the part of the trunk road (marked red) would be a tunnel, and the parallel tertiary road will probably be deleted or turned into a small street)? I’m not sure if the park would be too big that way.

We can all agree that OGF is supposed to be like the real world, but does not have actual real-world features. And if something exists in the real world, we avoid having it in OGF.
But, it often happens that we just keep something in OGF, changing nothing but the name (example: German->Gaerman). So basically, we have an OGF version for almost everything, just with a different name. I think this has gone too far - we need to be more imaginative, more inventive, more creative!
I do not know much about industrial zones and factories:
how to know in what city/village to make one, and how to know where exactly it should be?
what are characteristics of them i.e. what else to map except landuse=industrial?
Regards
So I made this mountain (tagged as forest/heath) and rivers around it and I like what I did. Does anyone have any comments, criticism, anything?
Regards
(P.S. I just uploaded it so it might not be visible yet)
Has any of you ever tried introducing trolley buses to one of your fictional cities? They are present in Eastern Europe, as well as Italy.
If so, I’m interested in how you did that. How to visibly tag trolley wires? How do trams work in combination with them (I’ve seen the combination of both systems in Rome, Szeged and Belgrade, but I’m not sure if that’s the common practice)?
If not, is anyone interested?

Hi everyone!
I was editing some topography and I think I accidentally discovered a good spot for a town, right here. What do y’all think?
Regards
Hi everyone
As the title suggests, I’ve been working a lot on the railway system in my city of Igwepir. Some things (main station, old main station, yard, underground platforms) have yet to be finished, but I’d like to hear your opinions, and whether y’all think I’m on the right way. If I’m doing something wrong, be sure to let me know.
Regards
Edit: the Nortkap line is not supposed to end there
I figure this and similar articles could be useful for naming things.
Is there such a thing as the E-road network in OGF? If not, is someone interested in creating that system?
In the wiki it says that most realistic cities are made by making topography first. I tried mapping the city of Waltburg that way. I am quite satisfied with how I did it, although I’m not sure if the scale is good.
I’d like to hear your suggestions and advices.
Regards
I’ve made a little territory on the boundary between Reeland and UL021. It’s supposed to be a territory not claimed by either country, like Liberland.
It’s free to edit by anyone (EDIT: I think it’s better to keep it collaborative for now), but I think it’d be better to make a plan first, so please don’t edit without consulting one another.
I’ll make a wiki page and a talk so we can discuss there.
I hope you’ll have fun, regards ^^
Igwepir was one of my first cities. You all said that I started it well.
Now I’m working on the city, especially focused on trams. Originally, it had 1 way for 2 team tracks and 1 node for the whole intersection. A while ago, I started studying maps of German cities and their tram networks, and since Reeland should be a lot like Germany, I tried modifying and expanding not just trams, but the whole city, to look like a German city.
Major changes are:
every tram track is a separate way
many more avenues (dual carriageway streets/streets with a median) and less normal roads
So, what do you think?
Should draw 2 tram tracks next to each other be drawn as one? On OSM they’re usually drawn separately and in the OSM wiki it says “In some places each tram tracks is mapped separately and in some places two tracks are together mapped as a single railway=tram line.”
So, what is more convenient in your opinion?
Hello everyone,
I’ve started a new city near Vumrupstat, the province capital in Oberlant. It’s located here.
As opposed to other cities I’ve mapped, this time i tried not to hurry, to work on a small area until it looks good (instead of trying to finish a large area quickly).
Also, I am trying to focus on small details, such as bus/tram stops and individual buildings.
In general, I will do the city slowly and without hurries, but try to focus on every detail and make everything as realistic as possible.
What are your thoughts/suggestions, what should I add or change, what do you like and what do you not like? I’d like to know what you think.
Regards
The country names in OGF sound very original and realistic, but they all originated from something, so I thought this could help all mappers and give them ideas for naming.
My country, Reeland (Reelant), was named after the Ree people from the Ree island. The Ree island (Isle of Ree) was originally a fictional map I found outside of OGF. I later found out that there is also a Dutch surname Reeland (Reelant), but that is not connected to the country name.
So, how did you all come up with the country name? Write in the comments.
Regards
How can I make a new category?
What does it mean? How is it reserved?
